Chronos lived up to everything I had heard about the guy. He was almost impossible to keep up with. Look away for one second and he was gone like the wind.
Trail was a blur, just like Dove said.
Pez was a steadfast partner. Always near the action. Always playing hard.
I was pretty much picking cactus out of my pants. And shooting tanks. And getting shot. And picking cactus out of my pants. And getting shot.
Did I mention picking cactus out of my pants?
The field was really great. Lots of waist- and chest-high grass. Trails for ambush. Lots of CQB in the town (as always, I assume) and good action around the bases. The new "Prison House" is nasty to assault...and scary as hell once you get inside and start trying to dig out the defenders. Grenades are a must. No LAWS here. Field rules state the walls are "too strong" for rocket attack.
The final battle set-up was particularly enjoyable. A three-way in your face melee for the two helicopters in the town.
I do have to say, though, that I was a bit disappointed overall with the PLAYERS involved.
There seemed to be a LOT of "hot" shooting. There was a LOT of ignoring hits. Chronos can tell you about one instance in particular. There was a LOT of shooting at less than 10ft range. There was a LOT of accusations of cheating (from all sides TO all sides).
I'm going to estimate that something like 20-30 players out of the 240+ were responsible for much of this, but it was enough of a presence to put tension in the air, so to speak.
Maybe it's the mil-sim aspect of the field that brings out the Rambo wannabes. I had more "fun" at Ogre and Princess and Deadlands...but this was still a highly enjoyable weekend. I met a whole platoon of new people and made a whole platoon of friends.
I plan on being at Blackhawk Down in January.
Back on the positive side, though, I got my first "bull-bleep and attitude" experience when Chronos and I literally walked through the Locust insertion point, past a squad of 6-8 Gogs heading out from their insertion point, through the Cogs insertion point itself, and to within 30 feet of their base without being challenged or shot.
We were about 3 seconds away from a "base rape" when Razor of The Roughnecks got wise and yelled, "They are BLUE!!! KILL THOSE GUYS!!!"
We got four of them before they hosed us from head to foot.
Chronos and I then put on our barrel socks, walked the rest of the way to the base, bumped fists, shared some laughs with Red Team and walked back to insertion. Razor impressed me as a very good sport and quite personable. That was one memory I'll take with me for a LONG time.
Blacklist even got on the awards list. Chronos took home the Most Notorious Player award from the Locust General ("Tank" Tankersley of Archon Paintball).
I really don't understand why, either. All he did was repeatedly penetrate their base defenses, raised general havoc, disrupted everything and took the Locust general hostage for half an hour.
Excellent work from the Jedi Master. Truly, nobody expects "the fat guy".
Good weekend. Lots of experience. Many lessons learned. Hope to see more Blacklist members at the next event.

Blacklist, Nova is a guy that I met while trying to find the place for the first time. We shared a campsite together along with Pez, when he arrived on Saturday. He got to meet Iceman and Guapo when they came by Friday evening to shoot the breeze. He also got to meet Trail, Chronos and Furby, who came by to ref on Sunday.
Let me say this is one stand up fella. GREAT guy to have at your side and a super camp mate. This guy is one I'll sling paint with any day. This was his first scenario after many, many rec ball outings. He played like a pro. Always had a smile on his face.
Good job, Nova! It was a real peasure meeting you. I truly hope to see you again. This guy is real Blacklist material. Plays hard, has honor and enjoys the game.
I ate the can of roast beef you left, by the way. Owe you one!

I had a good time as well, most "enjoyable". For me the last 20 min of the final battle was awesome. Twice I was in excellent position to defend our objectives. I marked more people in the last 10 min then the whole weekend combined! There was someone from another scenario team throwing me pods because I had an awesome vantage point. Black Horse I think but don't remember things were going on so fast. Not sure when I'll make another one due to funds but that helped recharge my batteries.

That would be Chronos on the left and Pez in the foreground to the right.
Chronos was most likely barking at Sarge.

I got into one picture myself...although you can't really tell it's me.

I'm the one in ACU's with the blue arm band (across from Chronos, who's at the far left) just outside the Green Team insertion point. I was looking to see how many shots I had left in my hopper.
Oh...about 190, I think.
